Collection Building – Rotterdam’s Treasure House
The decision about the Public Art Depot has been made!
On Thursday 5 November Rotterdam City Council voted in favour of the construction of the new Public Art Depot in the Museumpark.
Sjarel Ex, director of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen: “I want to thank everyone for their contributions and commitment to this process: not only the members of the city council and the municipal executive, ambassadors, supporters and our own team, but also architect Winy Maas and the many other people who have advised us in making crucial decisions. Their opinions and feedback have helped to make the Public Art Depot a truly unique concept.”
In 2018 Rotterdam will have the world’s first art storage facility that is fully accessible to the public. You can already experience what a visit to the extraordinary building by architect Winy Maas will be like:
Boijmans has a great plan, even if we say so ourselves: the Collection Building, a new storage facility that will be open to the public. The Collection Building will be constructed on the gravel terrain in the Museumpark. Why is it such a great plan?
Sjarel Ex, Winy Maas and others explain in two minutes why the Collection Building is such a great plan.
